This is a good sunscreen in the hot summer time for my oily face. I ordered this online. It dries quickly to a matte finish and helps keep my oilies at bay, due to it being somewhat drying. I find that I have to apply it quickly or else it dries and starts to ball up. It does not leave a white cast and helps my makeup last longer. I do wear a lightweight serum under it to prevent it from drying out my skin too much, or else I can get flakes (just like I did with my Shiseido SPF 55 lotion). Every once in a while during application I have felt a slight stinging/warming sensation, so I took off a lippie. And I make sure to shake it well before using it, as it can separate. But overall I like this and would repurchase again.

I was gone to a theme park and I forgot to bring sunscreen (I know! Really bad) but luckily my friend had this with her (even though she's allergic to this caused by the aloe vera) well, so i thought. I guess this is ok since I didnt get a sunburn but I really hate the texture. Its clumpy and watery at the same time and when you apply it, theres some weird brown residue which I think is dirt and its like that all over the place. And it stings my eyes really bad even though I applied it quite far away from my face. Probably never going to buy unless I have to.

true to its claim, banana boat sport dri-blok spf 30 is definitely one of the few sunscreens with amazing texture. it dries to a matte finish and not sticky at all to the touch, plus it has sufficient uva/uvb protection, too. i love it! will repurchase when i run out.

When I first put it on my face I loved it because it was really really matte, but it made my skin so tight I could barely smile, and then it turned my face bright red. It contains something nasty that's for sure :(. When I washed it off my cheek skin started flaking off, not nice, will not buy again.

i wear SS every single day. i put it on right after i get out of the shower. THIS one i happened to stumble upon by accident. it was on clearance at the commissary one day and i thought ok why not. i had no idea how dri blok would change my life!
i cannot wear any other kind of sunscreen. it bugs me to no end because they are oily and smell funky. i love coconut too but im not too into the smell of sunscreen. i dunno why i used to love it as a kid. this stuff only smells for aout 5 minutes. after that you can smell my lotion underneath just fine. or perfume on top with no problem. the powder dry finish is amazing. i dont even notice i have it on and neither does anyone else. i hang out with all guys and they are always pointing out how smooth my skin is this stuff actually makes my skin smoother. its ridiculous but amazing.
i HATE that i cannot find it anywhere. another review said its at wal mart but i am morally against shopping at wal mart. i do find it online for like $8 which is a lot after you add shipping so its like $12 but sometimes theyre on sale.
HOWEVER, the best day of my whole summer, i went to the 99 Cents Only store(san diego) and found half a shelf full of them. i bought them ALL. i now have 8 of them in my medicine cabinet. they expire next summer, but i've been through 1 and half so im sure i will use them before they expire. they also have the kids ones but i dotn like the really weird smell.
but yeah. i will pay whatever, and someday may actually go to wal mart to buy this because i love it that much. i tell everyone i know about it when i see what sunscreen they use.
i figure im gonna one day have to switch to the neutrogena dry block if they really do discontinue this one.
or pay the small forture for DDF sunscreen which is amazing, but i cannot afford at the rate i go through SS.

I have oily, acne-prone skin and have previously been on two prescription products (Duac and TretinX .05%) to clear it up. My skin is very sun sensitive and has some acne scarring which is healing and fading.

I have tried at least four different sunscreens on my face during this time and Banana Boat Dri-Blok Sport SPF 30 has TRUMPED Hawaiian Tropic Oil Free Sensitive Skin SPF 50 to become my HG facial sunscreen!

Application is the KEY to this SS. Dri-Blok Sport has a unique consistency that feels light and almost gel like. When you apply it, you must work in small areas (i.e. cheek, then move on to chin, etc.) and rub it in gently, letting the rest soak into your skin. If you rub it in vigorously like oilier sunscreens (ex. HT Oil Free Sensitive Skin), it will start to ball up and flake off. However, I never have a problem with it flaking if I don't rub too much (both during SS & makeup application).

It has a slight white cast when you initially put it on your skin, which completely disappears in a minute or two. After it has dried, it leaves your face baby soft and feeling as though you're wearing makeup primer. In fact, this SS really helps my foundation stay matte and last! Best of all, Dri-Blok Sport sinks into my skin and leaves a smooth face that is free of oil all day!

Banana Boat Dri-Blok is IDEAL for oily skin. It is super mattifying like Shisedo & Sofina. Unlike the nightmare I had with Sofina last fall, Dri-Blok has never clogged my pores. If my skin is feeling extra sensitive, it might sting for just a moment upon application, but it quickly fades away. Dri-Blok stands up to all day sun exposure (high PPD and is photo stable).

PSA: For those who were having trouble finding it, BB Dri-Blok is now available at Wal-Mart.

I purchased it a few nights ago. There was a large display at the front of the store of just the Banana Boat Dri-Blok kids version. However, there was another display of both kinds (Sport & Kids) in the general SS section at Wal-Mart.

The best part is, I picked up a back-up of my HG SS for $5! :-D Run, don't walk, to pick up this PRICELESS sunscreen! continued >>

My DH works outdoors all year round, and he has tried a ton of sunscreens. This is his favorite. sinks in very quick, no stickyness!
Very good coverage. My only complaint about this is that it is VERY hard to find!

Another example of YMMV...on me this stung like a mofo and completely balled up...I tried multiple times to use this and ended up washing it off each time. I don't have particularly sensitive skin so not sure what it was about this but I'm sticking to my beloved Eucerin SPF 30 that has never let me down.

Well, I don't want to ruin reviews, but I have to say this burned the heck out of my skin, please note, FIRST time in my life. This stuff is nasty! I do not have sensitive skin, rosacea or anything else. My skin is not made of cast iron and does get dry and irritated from time to time, but nothing bad, I usually have no problems with anything (except of clogging issues). My skin reacts when I try junk! I prefer chemical sunscreens and tried many, cheap and expensive, I also used Japanese sunscreens in the past and even those weren't drying or irritating, none of the sunscreens ever gave me any adverse reaction, not like this one. It stung like crazy, it burned my skin, I mean OUCH! my face is covered in red blotchy spots, and hurts, I only had it on for a few minutes, it's horrible, my skin went from combo/oily to dehydrated, wrinkled, dry and flaky within a few minutes. No, it does not beat Japanese sunscreens (they dry into matte and somewhat glowy not shiny or sticky finish), and you are hearing it from the person who does not like Japanese sunscreens!! It dries into matte finish and this is exactly what I was looking for, but so funny, it was so unattractively sand papery dry (I have oily/combination skin) that for a moment I felt like greasy sunscreens were not such a bad idea... the ugliest finish ever, move on and find something better for your skin.

Everything is true about how great this product is. However, I just want to warn you that I think it's being discontinued. I checked at numerous drugstores (Rite Aid, CVS, & Walgreen's) as well as 4 different Target's (in NJ and Philly) and could not find it. If you locate it, stock up because I think they're in the process of taking it off the shelves. It really is awesome and I've tried practically every sunscreen out there. continued >>

easily beats out Shiseido and Sofina for matteness and feel while on the face (yes! it's a drugstore sunscreen, under $10 for a large bottle that is great for you face!) it applies as a jelly-like lotion but within moments becomes not only dry to the touch - but completely powdery in its feel on your face. if you're familiar with the feeling of a light dusting of mineral makeup or loose powder - this sunscreen will be a refreshing change to the thick, silicon-heavy sunscreens most of us have been using.

works great under makeup - the high silica content not only keeps me matte from excessive oil (particularly in the summer) but also cuts down on shine from sweating and seems to act as a primer. i have been able to use both powder and liquid foundation successfully over this - and got away without setting my ultra-oily face with MAC Blot once and remained matte for hours. one of the additional benefits is the powder-lotion texture - it allows me to REAPPLY (especially important with the long days i tend to pull working outside) without shifting my makeup.

i got this for $6. the huge bottle will last me ages and is suitable for both face and body - to be honest, i can't believe this is cheaper than my store-brand body sunscreen and not even indicated for the face. it's the best sunscreen i've found for oily, acne-prone types who want to remain matte. the skintone evening effect of the silica is icing on the cake. NO MORE EXCUSES NOT TO USE SUNSCREEN!

It does go on like lotion but dries like a powder. I hate the way most sunscreen feels on my face but this feels like NOTHING. I've tried the kids version since that was the only one I could find. The scent for the kids version is a bit strong, so I'm not sure if it's something I can wear every day to work, so I'll try to get the sports one next time. I haven't found any other sunscreen out there with this level of wearability. Get it if you've ever been tempted to skip sunscreen because of the way it feels and looks on your skin. You won't even feel it.

I was searching high and low to find this stuff and finally I went to a different Target farther from my house and found the last bottle (had to get the kiddie version which smells like banannas/cocunut to me), don't you love the feeling of getting the only one there! Anyway,I am giving this a five because I do think this is a great find and will most likely be a 5 for me in the summer, for now it probably is more like a 4 for me. During the winter my skin starts to get kindof dry so this is making my cheeks very dry and even with moisturizer putting mineral makeup on top only leaves to flakiness- although this stuff does act like a great primer and matifier which is always great. I think i just need to find a stronger moisturizer to put on top of this and it could work out well. The only other thing, I dont have particularly sensitive skin but this stuff like burns my skin when I first put it on for a minute (am I the only one this has happened to?). Now, I have used many other products that burn in a tingly stinging way. This is different, it is like my face is actually heating up! It's not that terrible just very odd and prob. not a good sign but so far now breakouts or any signficant adverse reactions but ill keep everyone posted.
EDIT: had to take off one lippie because no matter what I did this is just too dry and because I am using MU, if I rubbed my skin I would get this powdery residue everywhere that I normally do not get. I will miss how matte this made my T-zone tho! Maybe I will try to use it just there, not sure yet.

This is not only the best sunscreen I've ever used; it's one of the best body sunscreen ever. I have used the regular version(the orange bottle) and the kids version (yellow version). The kids version has a different smell from the regular version, and it's a bit stronger too, but doesn't smell bad or anything. The regular version is just smells like coconut. I hate the hot, sticky, greasy feel of most sunscreens, but this one is like wearing nothing at all. for the stains on clothing (see other review), I've used 2 bottles now and have never seen a single stain on any item of clothing. My only "complaint" is that it's hard to find, not for me in California, but for my friends in other states, they will have to go to many drug stores to look for it.
The price I got was less than $7. Great price.
    Active Ingredients: Avobenzone (1.75%), Homosalate (10.0%), Octisalate (5.0%), Octocrylene (1.25%), Oxybenzone (2.0%)

They're slogan is "Goes on like a lotion, dries like a powder", which is so true. It's not sticky whatsoever. I don't even feel it. It has a faint, pleasant smell. The packaging is great; there's a grip so it won't slip off. It cost me $8.99CDN. Usually I buy the generic brands, which costs $6 and have that same sunscreen smell and is so sticky. I'm so glad I came upon this one and decided to buy it. Totally worth it for a few dollars more. Yeah, I know... I sound cheap. The active ingredients are Avobenzone 2.5%, Homosalate 10.0%, Octisalate 5.0%, Octocrylene 2/0%, Oxybenzone 4.0%.

I bought the kids' version (yellow bottle). I have tried many facial sunscreens (Neutrogena, Aveeno, Clinique, Lancome, etc.) and this one is the only one that delivers its promise of keeping skin matte and feeling completely dry like paper! It doesn't really cause me to break out but I should note that I've been on Accutane. The only downside is that since it dries to a powder finish, the powder residue tends to rub off on my clothing and bags that are black. Other than that, I really love this sunscreen and will continue to use it indefinitely.

I purchased this in the Kid's version which is basically the same formulation, same shape bottle, but yellow. Bought this on the advice of the wonderful MUA people! This is, indeed, extremely matte. Dries to a powder-dry finish and lasts through a full day of outdoor activity. I used this today, then spent 3 hours on the golf course, with excellent result. I tan extremely easily and using this product I did not pick up any colour. Actually, I wanted to purchase the Neutrogena Dry Touch but this was 6 dollars at Target opposed to 10 for the Neutrogena. And this product is rated more highly than Neutrogena SS.

Great product by Banana Boat. I have used this for 2 summers now, and I love the price and effectiveness. I am very fair skinned and this stuff lasts well throughout the day to prevent me from getting burned. It does what it says when it comes to being dry and non greasy. This stuff dries into the skin and I can't tell I'm wearing anything at all. I haven't used it on my face because I'm too afraid of breaking out, but I love this for my body. I would like to add, however, that I have only seen this product in SPF 30, and I wish I could get a higher level of protection for days when I am in intense sun for long periods of time.
